Personal Experience
Alan grew up in Upstate New York, after returning home from US Army Military Police Training he was hired by Federal Express as a courier and quickly rose to the position of Operations Manager at the Utica, NY facility. Alan was a member of the New York Army National Guard Military Police for ten years until he accepted a position 1989 as Operations Managers with Federal Express in the Des Moines/Ames Iowa area. Alan stumbled upon an opportunity to become Managing Director of Operations for a local battery company. After struggling with the decision to leave a solid career at Federal Express with a promising future he took the leap and joined Battery Warehouse in 1993. This change exposed him to the entrepreneurial experience, small business, and franchising. Battery Warehouse as a result of his guidance and efforts grew to four stores in two states. With the organization overhauled they pursued franchising under the name Battery Patrol and established nine stores in seven states. In 2001 the company was purchased by Interstate Batteries. As the Director of Operations Alan was given the task of converting all of the store locations to Interstate All Battery Centers, as well as a key role in buying back the franchises and then reselling them. He changed organizations two more times where he held key management positions as Sales, Marketing, Product and Brand Manager. After gaining a wealth of knowledge in almost every area of business over a 30 plus year career Alan got the itch to climb another mountain and put his mark on the Business Brokerage Industry.
